About Dolmage Tree Farm

Dolmage Tree Farm is committed to trees and customers. Our first trees were planted in 1981 on the family farm that my grandparents started in 1920. We grow trees for their beauty and sustainability; including many varieties of maples and oaks. All of our seedlings are purchased from certified nurseries.

Every spring, we hand plant the tree seedlings while watching the weather carefully to provide the best beginning possible. As soon as they are planted, we thoroughly water them in to reduce shock and give them the best possible start. In the fall, the maple trees, oak trees and others are hand pruned to assure the most attractive shape. We are inspected annually by the State of Iowa and will not sell you a tree if we do not think it will flourish at your specific location.

At Dolmage tree farm we only plant trees that will thrive in central Iowa. Typically, our trees have at least 10 years of growth before they are available for sale. Most trees will have a  3-5 inch trunk diameter and will be 12-18 feet tall. We do not sell small trees.  Using a tree spade we will transplant to your location only in spring before they leaf out, or late fall when they begin to go dormant for winter.
